UCI MTB World Cup – Val di Sole (ITA)

Hard to believe but true. The last UCI MTB World Cup 2017 took place. I had high goals for this race after the great 11th place in Monte-Sainte-Anne (CAN). I was enormously happy, motivated and I felt in good shape. I also really liked the 4 km long track. The one includes three long uphills, several technical sections and some flat passages. To be honest, there were already more difficult racecourses in the past. I finished the start loop and the five big laps proper and controlled. I felt physically and mentally really good, never had a loss of performance and drove constant times. All lap times were within 12 seconds. Nevertheless, I did not have the energy to drive even faster. I kept trying to give more and to catch up competitors. During the last lap I was on position 25/26. I did my best to win at least one UCI point as 25th. Unfortunately I lost the sprint against another Swiss competitor and reached the finish line as 26th U23 women. Not the result I was hoping for at the last UCI MTB World Cup 2017. Sometimes it’s difficult to answer the questions “why, wherefore, for what?”. My focus now is on the next and last race this season. I am looking forward to the Proffix Swiss Bike Cup race in Lugano.
