UCI Mountain Bike World Cup – Vallnord

Immediately after school on Wednesday my father and I travelled to Vallnord (Andorra). I was very excited about the new track. Also special is that the race track is on an altitude about 1’900 meters over sea-level. A terrain that is unusual for me. On Sunday I started at 08.30 am. This meant for me to eat the last big meal at 05.00 am in the morning. Luckily, I’m an early bird. At icy 6 °C I started with the warming up on the roll. The countdown begun, the start signal resounded and 44 riders started. During the whole race I could ride a constant pace. In the technical and slippery sections I was able to gain time. Only in the first and third round I had to wait behind some riders before a few difficult and wet obstacles. The track is physically very hard, because you even don’t have the opportunity to recover. In the last lap, I was able to build up a lead in the technical sections over one rival. I suffered, I really did. Finally I finished the race on the 25th place and gather another World Cup point. I would say hungry for more, hungry for the next UCI Mountainbike World Cup in the Lenzerheide.
