Training camp – Calpe

Sometimes things don’t happen as you would like to. That’s exactly how the training camp in Calpe worked out for me. I was full of energy and motivation after the Mediterranean Epic. I was really looking forward to spend two more weeks in Spain. But once again, everything turned out differently than expected.

It started with a sore throat, then a cold and a cough. During these two weeks, I unfortunately wasn’t able to do as many great tours and trainings as I wanted to. I felt tired, I felt sick and I just have been really disappointed. Why now? Why me again? How shall I improve my performance like that? I had a lot of these thoughts in my mind. The sun was shining and it has been 15 – 20°C. But I couldn’t really enjoy it. I tried to go outside, to enjoy the weather, to shop. But it was hard. It wasn’t easy as well for my sister. She came to Spain, to spend these two weeks of training with me. Due to that the disappointment has been even bigger. We decided to go back home earlier and not to stop in Barcelona as planned. These two days in Barcelona would have been kind of a «reward» for the hard work. But when you are sick and don’t feel really fit, you just would like to be at home. So, we went back to Switzerland earlier than planned. The last day in Calpe has been one of the best. We went to the top of Ifach mountain and enjoyed the breathtaking view and the beautiful sunset. After that we had a delicious dinner. That has definitely been one of the most beautiful memories of this training camp. On Friday my sister and I finally drove back home (1’500km). Now it’s time to recover and to continue fullgas!
