PSBC Leukerbad – About the past, the presence and the future

It has been a while since I wrote the last blog for my website. There was a lot going on the past few months. I trained many hours on the bike. For the most part, on a bike with a bit more suspension than usual. My winter training has been one big compromise. I tried to build up a reasonable form for the cross-country races but also worked a lot on my technical skills for downhill & enduro races. That wasn’t easy at all. The requirement profile in cross-country is very different compared to the one of downhill and enduro. In the beginning of March, I unfortunately got injured due to oversending a big drop (jumped too far). I injured my foot due to the impact and got a “bone bruise”. That meant for me: 10 days walking with crutches and a training break for about a month. And yes, we already were in the beginning of March. For me that was a real burden in the beginning. I knew that in in May my first xco race will take place. Barely no time to build up an acceptable form. Well, I couldn’t change anything on that point of time so I tried to trust that everything happens for a reason. After this training break I made a road trip to Spain together with my boyfriend and a friend. First, we spent some days in the 4 Riders Bike park and then we went for about a week to the La Fenasosa Bike park. The one in La Fenasosa was great. The people have been so nice & friendly, the jumps were shaped amazing and the adrenaline kick was huge. Long story short: Simply awesome!

On 2nd of March my first race this year (xco) took place in Leukerbad. I had mixed feelings. On one hand I was looking forward to finally compete again in a race. On the other hand, I didn’t have the motivation to ride at the limit. I did like the descent. It was curvy, wet, slippery and sometimes really tricky. But it is really difficult to achieve a good result without being fully committed. My opinion: to long uphill’s and to short downhill’s. I finished the race on position 56.

Last Monday I discussed the upcoming season with the team-management. We agreed that it makes no sense to compete in the next two World Cups in Albstadt (DE) and Nové Mêsto (CZE) in my current situation. Having fun of what you do is the base of success.

More updates about my season 2021 and the planned competitions, will follow soon.
