The racetrack on Mount Tamaro is one of my favourite courses. Stony passages, tight corners and technical descents characterize this track. In the evening before the race, I felt asleep with a good feeling. The closer the race came on Sunday, the more nervous I was. I still had the defeat from the world cup in South Africa in my mind and I probably have not fully processed it. On Sunday at 12.30 pm, it was finally time. In a pretty large and strong elite women’s field I started very well. Already after half a lap, I had to suffer from strong back pain. I only felt this unreal pain, could not focus on the track and wanted to give up the race. However, that would not be me. As in South Africa, I was ashamed to show such a bad performance. Many questions went through my mind during these physically and mentally tough five laps: What did I have done throughout the winter? Was all the hard work for nothing? Why am I doing this? I did not find an answer first. At the end, when I crossed the finish line, the disappointment was huge. On the way back home, I thought about the season and about my life. The year 2018 should be my year. I have had a big goal for the World Championship in Lenzerheide since long time. Is this goal maybe too ambitious? In my mind, I know that the season is still young and has just began. Yet, the athlete inside me wants the confirmation that he is on the right way. I had during this semester also to do my final apprenticeship exams and the test for the driver license. Plagued by constant fatigue and exhaustion, I will now take some rest in order to get fit as soon as possible. Today, while enjoying the nice weather during a walk, observing the colourful and beautiful flowers in the forest and listening to the twittering birds, I found the answer to the questions above: I love the mountain bike sport. I love the feeling reaching my goals after fighting and suffering hard. I love to discover the world on my mountain bike and I love having a second family because of the sport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
